O2 Simulator Install
I picked up a nice o2 sim from Universal O2 Sensor Simulator for $25 even though there are 2 sensors you need to simulate one simulator
is all you need. If you want you can get the 2 wire version of the sim
but it isn't necessary.

It is a simple matter to install the sim, I didn't even have to jack up
my car to do it. on the 99-02 PCM disconnect the blue PCM connector (top
one). carefully take the plastic cover off the connector exposing the wires,
using a pair of pliers pull the tabs free one at a time being careful not
to break them. Once you get it off the wires are numbered on the metal.
The wires you are concerned with are
- 65 PPL HO2S SIGNAL HIGH BANK 2 SENSOR 2
- 68 PPL/WHT HO2S SIGNAL HIGH BANK1 SENSOR 2
- 19 PNK IGNITION. POS. VOLT.
- 1 BLK PCM GROUND
What I did was remove that short section of large split loom wiring cover
that is closest to the PCM and do all my wiring so that section of loom
can cover it all up. First thing is cut both Purple wires and tape off
the o2 sensor end. Attach the PCM ends to the white wire on the O2 sim.
If you got the sim with 2 white wires then you can connect them separately.
It works the same with one or two wires so it doesnt matter what one you
get. the Pink and Black wires don't cut just strip back some insulation
to make your connections. Cutting the wires on the sim pretty short will
make things easier, there is no need to have a bunch of wire in the way
there. I would also suggest not using crimp connectors and soldering everything
in place. They are in a spot that will get lots of water so those crimp
connectors will eventually corrode. Once all the connections are made and
taped up put the split loom cover back on, the sim module wont fit inside
it but you can put it against the split then cover it with tape once you
are satisfied that everything is working.
One thing to make sure of is wires #66 and #69 are both the same colors
as the other wires so be very careful to get the right wires or the car
at best will run like crap since you are simulating Sensor 1(front) and
the computer will not be able to properly adjust the air fuel ratio. |
